10 plants

building intimacy with plants over time

This 5 month long, hands-on herbalism learning circle is a slow burn. We meet twice a month. We’ll take our time getting to know 10 medicinal herbs from June to October. We’ll meet them on the farm, nerd out about who they are, and make medicine from their bounty. You will then be invited to continue building your relationship to them through journaling and meditation practices until the next time we meet.

why this approach?

this program is really shaped by what i was craving in my own herbalism learning. i noticed i needed a rhythm that let me both absorb and integrate what i was learning. some learning spaces met too infrequently—i’d leave inspired, only to wait weeks before reconnecting. others met too frequently—i couldn’t fully process or practice what i had just learned. through trial and error, i discovered that meeting every two weeks is the sweet spot for me: enough space to digest, reflect, and practice, without losing the thread of learning. this program is designed around that rhythm, so you have the time and support to build a real, embodied relationship with each plant.

i also longed for more connection between sessions. i didn’t want to just show up, learn, and disappear—i wanted to feel part of a shared practice. i wanted to know what others were noticing, to feel like we were in it together, and to have a facilitator who was still present in the in-between. So part of this container is creating a space for that. we’ll have a shared group space where we can check in, share reflections, and stay connected to each other and the plants, even when we’re not physically meeting.

another core piece of this program is slowing down with the plants themselves. we’ll focus on one plant at a time—meeting it in person, working with it through different preparations, and taking time to observe, reflect, and build our own understanding through direct experience. there will be practices shared to help you stay engaged and build connection with the plant during our time apart.

and finally, this is an intentionally small and intimate space. i’ve been in larger learning environments where it was hard to share my own experiences or really be heard. here, there will be room for your voice, your questions, and your reflections. some of the most meaningful things i’ve learned about plants didn’t come from books or even from what my teacher was sharing tbh—they came from hearing others’ stories. the way someone met a plant, worked with it, experienced it in their body or their life—that kind of knowledge has stayed with me the longest. my hope is that this space makes room for that kind of learning, too.

i guess what i’m hoping to cultivate is a space that supports you in (re)connecting to your own divine knowing, to your capacity to relate to the natural world that you too are part of, and to reclaim ways of relating to plants that are inherently ours—but that we’ve been stripped of by the exploitative society we live in.

in a world where we’re so hardwired to consume as much as possible as fast as possible, i’m just out here looking for a slow burn. and maybe you are too. join me?
